Universities in the UK are very tolerant and respect minority rights and try their best to place everyone under the sun. For LGBTQ+ communities, they have been shown a decent attitude and support, and almost all British universities have legally registered LGBTQ+ societies. By virtue of their legitimacy, they have access to venues, publicity platforms and funding and thus can run a wide range of activities. Every Pride Month and other major events about LGBT, rainbow flags can be seen almost anywhere on campus.

According to the gay-friendly university survey by Stonewall in 2022, the top 5 most LGBTQ-friendly colleges that have demonstrated the most loyalty and tolerance towards LGBT students are The University of Birmingham, Bradford University, Cambridge University, The University of Central Lancashire and Cardiff University.
These universities are known for their many LGBTQ-friendly activities. For example, they organise different events and meetings during major LGBTQ events such as LGBT+ History Month, regularly provide forums to discuss important diversity issues and raise safe environment issues for LGBTQ communities. The schools stand with all LGBTQ students to host and promote various supportive events, as well as have official social media pages set up where important information about LGBTQ is shared and discussed. All of these are helping the university to create an LGBTQ-friendly space and working to improve the experience of LGBT+ students.

Cambridge SU LGBT+ is the Cambridge University Students’ Union Campaign for LGBT+ students at Cambridge. The active LGBT+ campaign organises various events and student clubs, such as choir, content workshops, board games, coffee breaks for gay people, etc. They also crafted a library to collect the literature about outstanding people from the LGBT+ community, as well as supportive materials.

The LGBT+ Students’ Network in University College London is the place to provide social and welfare support to LGBT+ students, campaign and raise awareness of LGBT+ issues, both on campus and outside of it and represent LGBT+ students on the Union Council. The network is also important for LGBTQ students to meet like-minded people within UCL and across London.
